インターレックス/Interlex offers up a fresh serving of Kitchen Panic with a re-release of the classic platformer. Originally released on May 28, 1998 for Playstation, the game provided countless hours of entertainment. The game can now easily do so again with it being released on the Android platform, Googleplay. Fans of the original game can easily access the fun game play they loved, as well as the nostalgic memories that, no doubt, flavor the game. The pixel graphics hold up and make Kitchen Panic a pleasure to view. The character/enemy sprites mesh well with the detailed foregrounds, obstacles, and even the interesting backgrounds.  The simplistic design of the protagonist is not unlike the famous Kirby, and its movements and powers are akin to Mario. While it shares some similarities with these two big name classics, it is it’s own unique game, deserving of attention. The main character is a potato with hands and feet and the settings, items, and enemies all correlate to things typical of a kitchen, making the game cohesive thematically as well as aesthetically.  The game play remains challenging and engaging. The side-scrolling is responsive, as are the controls. Players will find the puzzles and obstacles a delight as they attempt to master them and complete levels. The simplicity of the controls (directional, jump, and dash) only adds to the challenge while allowing the game to be easy to pick up. The game does have ads, but utilizes a reward system. On top of this, the game does offer in-app purchases, but these are again optional as the game is free to download and play. There is a good amount of replay value with the timer, as players can attempt to beat their own scores, as well as the leaderboard. Plus with a market and community interested in speed running games, Kitchen Panic is a viable option for such a play style. The game remains an original platformer nearly twenty years after it’s release on the PS1. Overall, Kitchen Panic is a fun and challenging platformer with a history, revamped and released on new platforms for new generations to enjoy. Highly recommended giving it a download.
