Pinball Planet provides worlds of pinball fun for a small price tag.

The graphics in Pinball Planet are top-notch 3D, and themed incredibly well for each of the three pinball boards available for play. There is a great level of detail in each pinball table, and not a single object in the game seems to go against the Halloween, Pirate, or Miner themes, including the world map that players can spin around to pick an island (pinball table) to play. Even the balls themselves are themed,  such as cannonballs for the pirate table and eyeballs for the Halloween table. The sounds effects and music add greatly to the game as well, and match the graphics in terms of quality. The animations on each level are well done. Overall the graphics are a strong component to the game.

The pinball tables are unique and quite fun to play on, often challenging, with only a few minor issues that seem to slow down gameplay significantly with the placement of obstacles and bumpers, namely on the Pirate table. Each table has fun features that help or hurt the player, including jumping spiders, tombstones, séance candles, bats, rum bottles, cutlasses, a spitting skull, and much more. The game also gives players collectible stars that they can spend on unlocking new game boards (Halloween, Miner, Pirate), or on temporary boosts, such as increased starting points or extras balls, to help them obtain a high score. Stars are earned after a certain number of points are collected on each play through, and for completing a series of interesting challenges. The game has a good pace, and earning stars, completing achievements, and striving for a top score keeps the player’s interest for a long while. Long enough to justify the $2.99 price tag of the game, at the very least.

Overall, Pinball Planet offers unique pinball tables and challenges that will hold player’s attention, and is certainly worth a download and the upfront price.

App Description

Pinball Planet ReviewOur mission: We’ve always loved to play pinball games but we noticed most modern pinball games are simulators for the hardcore and nostalgic pinball players. That’s why we aimed to create a pinball game for the new generation of gamers, who may not be familiar with the concept. We feel we’ve succeeded in our goal.

The game: The game will include three completely different and unique pinball levels full of mysteries and secrets. A dynamic mission system unlocks new challenges and fun approaches to pinball gameplay. To accomplish our goals for the game, we’ve also focused on creating a visual appealing game world for the player. Pinball Planet features simple RPG elements such as a leveling system, power-ups, statistics, a simple in-game economy, challenges and complete freedom in game play progression.

The Player: It’s a game for everyone, gamers both old and new to pinball. It combines the best parts of old-school pinball games, but adds original and fun digital additions that are not possible in real-life pinball games. The game is easy to understand and play, it’s controls and interface are easy and intuitive to use. It’s the perfect game for short play sessions and stays challenging during long play sessions thanks to the fun mission system.

How does this compare to Pinball Fantasy HD? I recently bought an iPhone and want to play a pinball game again, but that game is only on Android. Anyone play this yet?
