Tink Magician for the Android Platform is a much bigger adventure than seeing its pint sized magicians might lead one to believe. The app takes the positives of an RPG adventure, story, strange lands, up-gradable stats, and combines it with the strategic fun of a tower defense game.
The graphics in Tink Magician are charming, but not completely polished. The creatures charging at the magician and the spells are animated very well, but strangely the magician herself is not. Furthermore, many aspects have a fuzzy appearance when scaled to the tablet sized screen. On the other hand, the word map it interesting, the levels have variety as most RPGs do, such as pleasant forests full of low-level beasts, and deserts with running cacti. It’s enough to appeal to the eye and keep player’s interest for a long time.
Tink Magician is a much more active feeling tower defense game, in that the tower is not a stationary tower, but a mobile magician that travels a world map, and also in the fact that spells are fluid. Certainly, players can find a good place to set up camp with a spell and just have it auto repeat to slay hordes of beasts, but they also have the option to have their finger zoom around the screen inflicting death on monsters with fire, roots, ice, lightning, chaos and much more. Upgrades are available for the hero and the spells, including increased percentage of gold and experience earned, power of spells, and increased stat points in general. All in all, Tink Magician can be quite difficult even when hiring help, purchasing the suggested spells, and landing every shot. Its a real challenge. Other times it can be slow, such as perma-freezing a high HP boss and slowly eating away at him with fire, lightning, or chaos spells, but otherwise the game provides ample options in attack spots and combination of spells. There is an interesting story, as well. Best of all, the strategy aspect of the game makes it far more satisfying that most tower defense games, and also gives it more replay value.
Overall, Tink Magician is a great free RPG – Tower Defense game that blurs the boundaries of the two genres in all the right ways. It’s sure to keep players enchanted for hours and provide a true challenge.
Tink Magician is a special kind of defense game. More than any other Tower defense game, requires players to be more proactive. You use your magical spells to summon elemental powers to destroy the invading armies of the demon lord. Tink Magician is a fantasy battle game that plays much like a tower defense game but also has RPG aspects. This is an indie game. We apologize if you have trouble because of our inexperience.
