Privacy is a growing issue in America, as well as the world. Also growing is the number of obligations each person has in a given day, week, month, year. As such, Narrate offers a perfect way to remain private, but also organize thoughts into one easy place, without having to worry about how many or how few “likes” a particular thought acquires.

With a password option, privacy is even greater, and users can feel comfortable using the app as a modern day diary, saving paper (trees) in the process. The app is also updated frequently with new features, so users can rest assured that bugs will be few, and taken care of in a timely manner.

Narrate offers a professional and clean User Interface (UI), with plenty of great features similar to social media sites, without the stipulation of having to share with the public. Some people find they are more private, and this app is for them. However, privacy should not give the sense of being boxed in. Some features, such as the one line versus a box entry format, do in fact give the user a feeling of being too confined.

The biggest issue with Narrate is that the Sync to Drive and Sync to Day One options remain as premium features only. Given that the developer does not host the data himself but rather with Dropbox, it’s like setting up a gate on a public bridge and charging a toll. There are certainly features that could get users to pay the $2.85 to upgrade to pro, but the sync feature being only a pro feature comes off more as an insult than it does as a privilege.

Overall, Narrate performs near perfectly as the service it set out to provide, and with frequent updates, is sure to only get better.
